Wooden social housing [2013]

This housing project consists in the planning of a wide plot in Paris that faces La Villette. Initially, all the 20 students of the studio had to determine the urban aspect of the plot together : roads, public spaces, green spaces, and so on. Then, each student had to design a building containing 6 apartments + 4 townhouses.

Here, the apartments morphology is inspired by Adolf Loos Raumplan : the partitioning is based on complex spatial relations and small floor level gaps.
The housing possesses a wooden post & beam structure joined to concrete foundations and to a concrete elevator shaft that acts like a strong structural core.
