Malaquais 2nd year studio work (2012)
Teacher : Xavier Fabre
The project takes place on the Quai de la Tournelle in Paris, facing Notre-Dame and l’île Saint-Louis. Its elongated shape follows the morphology of the dock, while a central opening invites the passers-by to access the river banks.
This Public access building possesses two functions, distributed on two levels : the ground level is a Water bus station, and the first level is a 150 square meters exhibition space dedicated to the history of la Seine.
The structure of the building is made of wood gantries, while the envelope consists of large glass panels partially obstructed by thin wooden panels, reminding reflections on the water’s surface.
